DESPITE failing to get on the score sheet in Police’s opening two league fixtures, Jimmy Gatete says it won’t be long before the club fans start chanting his name.

The former APR and Rayon Sport striker dominated headlines in the off-season when he shockingly joined Police after failing to reach a mutual agreement with the Blues.

In a brief interview with Times Sport recently, Gatete calmed his critics saying, "Two games without scoring is nothing to worry about. I think it’s too early to judge me.”

Police have not had the best of starts after managing a point from a possible six. After losing to defending champions APR 2-3 on the opening day, Police were held to a goalless draw by newly promoted side Musanze over the weekend and Gatete was quick to blame the bad playing conditions for the result.

"It was a very difficult game because we played on a very slippery pitch,” he said.

Police, who are eighth on the league table, will now hope for better fortune when they take on Etincelles on Saturday.
Gatete has also backed Amavubi to down Zambia’s Chipolopolo when the two sides face off in a crucial 2010 Africa Nations Cup qualifier on November 14.
