KENYA Football Limited (FKL) has confirmed their readiness to prepare a successful Cecafa Challenge Cup due in Nairobi from November 28 to December 13.

The FKL Secretary General Sammy Obingo told Times Sport yesterday on phone from Nairobi that the football body is working closely with Cecafa secretariat to hold a successful tournament.

"We had some problems due to persistent wrangles in our football management at the start but so far so good.

"We have secured some sponsorship from the government and we hope to unveil other corporate sponsors next week,” Obingo said.

He urged participating countries to prepare effectively their national teams so as to make the competition more competitive.

According to Obingo, the Kenyan Ministry of Youth and Sports has injected Ksh.10m (Rwf 75.6M) to Challenge Cup while Confederation of African Football (CAF) has chipped in another Ksh.2 million (Rwf 15.2M). Challenge Cup returns back to Kenya after a 14-year absence and the Government has announced that it is pulling all stops to have a successful event.

World body Fifa has also pledged its support and it will fund an elite referees’ seminar three days to the kick off of the event.

Ten years ago Fifa paid airfare of all participating teams that took part in the event when it was held in Rwanda.
