Disi ranked 29th

The country’s top athlete, Dieudonne Disi has been ranked 29th among the top 10000m runners in the World short listed by the international Amateur Athletics Federation (IAAF) this year.

The country’s top athlete, Dieudonne Disi has been ranked 29th among the top 10000m runners in the World short listed by the international Amateur Athletics Federation (IAAF) this year.

The Rwandan born runner came 29th after setting up a new national record of 27:22:28, which he ran in October during the Van Damme memorial championship held in Brussels.

The 10000m World record holder and Ethiopian born athlete Kenenisia Bekele tops the list with a personal time of 26:46.19 which he also set in the Van Damme memorial championship this year.

Bekele has topped the rankings for two consecutive years since setting the world record in 10000m at 26:17.53 in Brussels in 2005. 

Fellow Ethiopian Sileshi Sihine follows in second position with a personal time of 26:48.73, he set after winning the European championship held in Hengelo, Holland in May.

Kenyan born, Eliud Kipchonge is third with a personal time of 26:49.02, which was also obtained after finishing second in the same race held in Hengelo early this year.
