RUSIZI — The Minister of State in charge of Primary and Secondary Education, Mathias Harebamungu together with the Germany Ambassador to Rwanda, Elmar Timpe, last week inaugurated 36 classrooms constructed at Ntura Secondary School in Giheke sector, Rusizi District. 

The classrooms were constructed by Rhineland Palatinate Province in Germany, according to officials at the school.

While speaking at the occasion, Ambassador Timpe said it is crucial to assist develop a nation like Rwanda that is still recovering from the effects of the Genocide against the Tutsi.

The Ambassador reaffirmed his government’s commitment to supporting Rwanda’s development.
Harebamungu, said funding the construction was a sign of the warm ties between the government of Rwanda and Germany.

"The 36 classrooms that we have today officially commissioned are of new standard and they look so good compared to other classrooms at the school.

On behalf of our government I thank Rhineland Palatinate for funding the construction, it’s really a big contribution towards promoting education in Rwanda,” he said.

Some students, who spoke to The New Times shortly after the function, praised Rhineland Palatinate for the construction of the new classrooms.

The function was also attended by the governor of the western province, Celestine Kahahizi.
