Apparently there have been many reports in the media where young women, have been involved in elective abortion related crimes and it seems despite the fact that police have been cracking down on these criminals they are not ready to get rid of this practice.

Elective abortion is the termination of a pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus or embryo deliberately.

This crime normally happens due to the fact that the conceiver of the pregnancy got it by mistake and to her it is an unwanted pregnancy. Such reasons compel this would-be mother to try all possible ways to get rid of the pregnancy hence elective abortion.

Abortion in our society today, comes in many different ways and it is prominent among young persons especially those still in school.

It is these ones who think that if they gave birth, it would affect their future plans which range from dropping out of school to ceasing to get help from their parents.

Many cases have been heard where a big number of university students, have gone an extra mile of aborting from their hostel rooms. The toilets in the neighborhoods have become dumping places, a thing that deserves condemnation. 

Abortion has a long history and has been induced by various methods including herbal abortifacients, the use of sharpened tools, physical trauma and other traditional methods.

Contemporary medicine, utilizes medications and surgical procedures to induce abortion. The legality, prevalence, and cultural views on abortion vary substantially around the world. In many parts of the world there is prominent and divisive public controversy over the ethical and legal issues of abortion.

Abortion and abortion-related issues feature prominently in the national politics in many nations, often involving the opposing pro-life and pro-choice worldwide social movements.

Our Society has not been saved from this debate, where our lawmakers have been contemplating  whether abortion should be legalised in the constitution.

It is true that there are times when abortion is inevitable, especially when the fetus is posing danger to the mother which is known as therapeutic abortion. But in this column today am opposing the abortion done deliberately.

Apart from this act being a crime in our society, it is also a crime that God hates so much because it is murder to which many don’t think in that context. Many young people don’t take it seriously.

They think that the unborn baby doesn’t matter. But the unborn fetus is as much a "real person” as born people are.
However, all people who engage in this activity ought to know that they are committing murder and depriving of the right to live to that unborn child.

It is true that one may get pregnant by mistake hence rendering the pregnancy unwanted, but if it happens, why don’t they swallow the consequences and give that kid a chance to live?

You can never know what could be of that baby in future. By killing it you might be causing loss to our society of a person who could have brought great change.

Abortion does not only end the lives of the would-be useful people but also devastates the lives of the would-be mothers. It leaves them with thoughts of regret that haunt them forever not to mention the death threats it may cause.

Infertility is another very common effect of having an abortion. In fact, abortions can be held responsible for at least thirty percent of women who are experiencing problems with infertility.

Another thing that having an abortion may cause is complications during a later pregnancy.

But as you decide to overlook all these dangers and choose to go on with the crime of abortion, you should think about the innocent life of a contributing member of our society you are going to end.

Remember that the fetus you are trying to kill had no hand whatsoever in your getting pregnant and therefore doesn’t deserve to be killed. Give those babies their right to live.
