KIGALI - The United States Embassy yesterday held a crafts’ fair on their premises aimed at promoting handcrafts made by 18 local cooperatives. According to Anne Casper, the Deputy Chief of Mission at the embassy, the aim of staging the fair was to try and help the local cooperatives market their commodities overseas. “We invited vendors to come and sell their products. Our pleasure is to host events to help communities,” she said. The selected craftspersons expressed satisfaction saying this was an opportunity for exposure of their products.

"It is an opportunity that our cooperative was chosen from the many that had applied,” said William Rugwiza, a businessman who sells handcrafts on behalf of manufacturers and runs several shops in Kigali City.
