KARONGI – Rwanda Purpose Driven Ministries, a local Christian organisation that works with different churches countrywide, has donated a total of 550 wheelchairs to people living with disabilities in Karongi District.

The wheelchairs worth US$27,500 are also meant to benefit refugees in Kiziba refugee camp, hospitals and health centres within the district.

According to Archbishop Emmanuel Kolini, the chairman of the steering committee of the organisation, the support is in line with their mission of promoting reconciliation while assisting the poor and the sick.

Addressing residents, Kolini urged the beneficiaries to care less about their physical disability and instead asked them to embrace God’s love and guidance for them.

He challenged the beneficiaries to use the opportunity to visit places they never used to reach and asked them to always pray for each other.

The function was also attended by  MP Pierre Clever Rwaka, representing people with disabilities.

"I am very happy because now I have a chance to move from one place to another which I never did in my life before,” Jean Paul Musabyimana, 40, said soon after receiving his  wheelchair.
