•Midfielder signs one-year deal with Kiyovu

2009 CECAFA/Kagame Cup and Peace Cup holders Atraco have pardoned Uganda’s controversial international midfielder Joseph Kabagambe, three months after breaching his contract with the taxi-men side.

Kabagambe who forged a letter to join Sudan’s Al-Neel during the Kagame Club Championship held in Sudan was exonerated on Tuesday after apologizing to his former bosses. 

The former Express and SC Villa midfielder dominated headlines in Sudan when he pocketed US$10,000 (Rwf. 5.7m) as sign-on fee after forging a release letter to join the Sudanese outfits on a six-month loan deal.

However, he was later denied an International Transfer Certificate (ITC) after confessing that he had forged the letter.

The incident left Kabagambe out of favour at Sam Timbe’s Atraco and his contract was immediately terminated.

"I regret all the pain I have caused Atraco fans and want them to know that I’m very sorry,” he told Times Sport.

After settling his differences with Atraco, reliable reports have now confirmed that the midfielder has penned a one-year deal with Kiyovu, the newly ordained ‘Manchester City’ of Rwanda.

"I’m happy that they have brought me aboard and I think that with the players in the squad, we can challenge the big three (APR, Atraco and Rayon Sports) for the league title.”

Kabagambe becomes Jean Marie Ntagwabira’s ninth signing after Bonaventure Hategikimana, Donatien Tuyisenge, Jean Shyaka, Mwemere Girinshuti, Pappy Nkunda, Eric Serugaba and Burundi’s trio of Bangama, Karim Nizigiyimana and Fuadi Ndayisenga.
