GICUMBI – The Gicumbi Mayor and Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF) district chairman, Bonane Nyangezi, has urged party members to utilise time effectively in order to realise a faster rate of economic development.

"RPF members should utilise every minute that passes to steer economic development because time is money,” said Nyangezi.

He was addressing over 7,000 party members from Cyumba Sector who had gathered for the RPF general assembly last week.

The meeting at Cyumba Sector was meant to review and lay strategies aimed at accelerating social-economic development activities in the sector.

Nyangezi cautioned members against divisionism, saying it retards development. "Government’s economic development strategies are closely linked to those which RPF ascribes to,” he added.

The sector party chairman, Timothee Karenzi said the sector has managed to boost party membership through a robust recruitment drive.

He disclosed that members in the sector have constructed two cell offices at Rwankojo and Nyambare using their own resources.

Cyumba Sector Executive Secretary, Theresa Mujawamariya, was full of praise of RPF members for adhering to government’s development programmes of modern agriculture and livestock farming.

"There are three cooperative societies engaged in various activities in the sector. These societies are currently engaged in commercial agriculture as well as within the transport sector and small scale business ventures,” she said.

The meeting resolved to put much effort in the sectors of agriculture and livestock farming so as to guarantee food security. They also pledged to support the 9-year Basic Education programme.
