The Media High Council in collaboration with the Rwanda Governance Advisory Council with the support of UNESCO is organising a national validation workshop on the establishment of the Access to Information Act in Rwanda.
The workshop is scheduled for tomorrow at Alpha Palace in Kigali.
The validation comes as a follow up on nationwide consultations based on the decision by the Government retreat earlier this year.
The Media Council was tasked to come up with a draft bill.
The objective of the workshop is to validate views gathered from the different consultations of stakeholders on the draft bill.
Students help flood victim
Students of Ecole Secondaire des Batistes in Rubavu district yesterday helped construct a house for a woman whose house was destroyed in the recent heavy downpour in the district rains that left over 50 residents homeless.
Over 500 students together with their academic staff volunteered in the exercise.
The students argued other schools in the district to come out together and help the residents who fell victims to the heavy rains.
NURC concludes retreat
The National Unity and Reconciliation Commission (NURC) on Monday concluded a one-month retreat that aimed at seeing the basic ways of restoring unity and reconciliation.
Jean Batiste Habyarimana, the president of the commission, said that they among other issues discussed included the forthcoming presidential polls slated for next year.
CNLS, GLIA donate to orphans
The National AIDS Control Commission (CNLS) together with Great Lakes Initiative on Aids (GLIA) over the weekend donated to orphans living with HIV/AIDS virus in Karongi district.
Among the items donated included sewing machines and the donations amounted to Rwf21 million.
GIP discusses hotel construction
The Gakenke Investment Promoters (GIP) in the Northern Province yesterday held a meeting and discussed ways of building a hotel and developing coffee farming in the district.
The GIP which has 75 members has already earmarked Rwf150 million for construction of the hotel.
