York who plays for Athletic Football Club Eskilstuna, in Sweden, is optimistic that Rwanda will qualify for AFCON.

"We are not pleased with past results against Senegal. But against Mozambique, the draw was a much-needed result and overall we played well. We are in a good position and we have shown in past matches that we are ready for the games ahead,” York said.

Senegal is on top of Group L with six points, Rwanda third with one point while Mozambique is in second with four points and Benin hasn’t got a single point.

The 23-year-old said the team is now looking forward to the next games against Senegal, Benin, and Mozambique.

"Qualifying for AFCON, ultimately, is the target. We are ready, and we are going to do everything to make that happen,” he added.

Rwanda drew one game against Mozambique and lost to Senegal 1-0.

"With the game against Sudan, the manager is trying to get across the information he wants. It’s nice to have a friendly match with the team together as a squad. Hopefully, these two games will help us and give us good conditions for the qualification matches,” he noted.

"We can qualify because we have the capacity of doing that and we still have many games to play which can put us in a good position. I am positive we can qualify,” he noted.

Due to his dual citizenship, York was invited to play for Rwanda's national football team in 2015. He debuted with Rwanda in a 1–0 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification loss to Uganda on October 7, 2021.
