Reco-Rwasco, former Electrogaz, yesterday made a contribution of Rwf 20 million to the 9-Year Basic Education programme through the Ministry of Education.

Education Minister Dr Charles Murigande received the cheque during a corporate social responsibility exercise organized by Reco-Rwasco management with residents to help Groupe Scolaire Rugarama, in Nyamirambo, Nyarugenge district.

The exercise which also attracted the Minister of Infrastructure, Eng. Linda Bihire, and the State Minister for Energy Eng. Albert Butare, saw the school acquire a water supply system, electricity, communication line and a foundation for seven classrooms.

The estimated cost for the services offered to the school is about Rwf 7 million.

In his address, Yves Muyange the Managing Director of Reco-Rwasco, said that the institution can not afford to lag behind in implementing national programmes.

"We are joining the struggle to achieve successful national implementation of the 9-Year Basic Education and we realize it is important to make our contribution,” Muyange said

"We must take part in strategies that aim at producing well educated employees in future for either Reco-Rwasco or other companies”.

Murigande thanked Reco-Rwasco for the services rendered and encouraged other players to do the same so as to hit the target.

"This is an extraordinary contribution towards the programme ever since it started. I therefore call upon other players to join and the fight so that our children can have enough classrooms.”
