Peaceful demonstration perfect in solving trouble

In they say that most people live complaining till the end. But despite the challenges that create such a situation in many people’s lives, many never give up. In they say that most people live complaining till the end. But despite the challenges that create such a situation in many people’s lives, many never give up. Everyone is always striving to have a better life. But, that is not to say that whoever strives for a better life, gets what they hope for.

That is the very reason for the complaints. But the question remains, do all people who complain, do so to the right people?  In work places, social groups, business community, schools and other places, people are always complaining of this and that.

Indeed sometimes people complain with a lot of sense and concern about specific subjects, although others do it for personal interest and gain. Whatever the case, the way people complain and express their dissatisfaction, matters a lot.

For people to complain as a group there must be reasonable ground and this implies that there is need for action to be taken before the complaint turns into some drastic action.

Failure to take pre-emptive action, always leads to a distortion of the complaints and their relevance. This is mostly the case when violence is employed by a group that has grievances.

Such a scenario where grievances were expressed in form of violence was witnessed at King David Academy in Kicukiro district. As a result parents, whose children were involved in the violence, will have to pay for the damage caused to the school.

It was reported that the property that was destroyed, included; furniture, computers and classroom windows that are estimated at about Rwf 1.2 million.

The incident led to the arrest of 26 students and expulsion of 10 from school. News reports indicated that students rioted because of what they considered being forced to do "hard labour”.

At the same time, the school director was reported to have said that the directive to limit free interaction with girls was the immediate cause of the strike.

Whatever the possible cause of the students grievances, it is never justified to take extreme action like rioting where everyone is a loser. Moreover, it is the rioting students who lose more than anybody else.

This is because they are the main beneficiaries of the infrastructure they destroyed.

At the same time, they bring untold suffering to their own parents. This is in a way of financial loss in compensation as they have to meet unexpected expenses.

In any case it is always possible that such grievances can be settled peacefully without resorting to violence.
