Herbs have for centuries been known for their healing power. Some herbs have the ability to effectively revitalise tired skin back to its healthy condition as well as heal some skin problems.

Having a skin problem is considered more than a beauty issue but rather a health issue. Herbs are quite efficient when it comes to solving these skin problems and have no side effects. Better still, they are a natural remedy that is less expensive.

Some common herbs with skin healing powers include; Aloe Vera, lemon grass, rosebuds, ginger, herbal tea, witch-hazel, alfalfa, kelp and parsley.

Aloe Vera is very good for all types of skin. For treatment of dry skin, prepare a facial mask, by rubbing the plants extract on the face. For oily skin problems, apply witch-hazel directly to absorb the skin’s oil. Making facial treatments using rosebuds and lemon grass does miracles for oily skin.

To treat the acute acne problems, the extract from tea leaves when applied onto the acne will make a difference. To make a toner, use witch-hazel for oily skin and rosewater for dry skin.

Drink peppermint tea regularly because it’s a great antioxidant that clears the skin of any impurities. Herbal tea is made by putting about one to two teaspoons of dried or fresh herb in a tea bag and pouring very hot water over it. This then steeps for about five minutes.

Not only can this tea be sipped but also it can be used as a skin wash. A skin wash is a very good way to treat skin infections or to treat broken skin to prevent infection from occurring. It can also be used as a gargle to treat a sore throat.

Kelp is considered as a natural source of iodine and helps to fight bacteria and germs from breeding on the skin. Alfalfa increases immunity because of its huge content in magnesium, calcium, iron, phosphorus and sodium. Parsley has vitamins A, B and C in high quantity and so it has more to offer than skin beauty.

Besides skin treatments, some herbs like raspberry can fix the problem of hormonal imbalance in women. Others like ginger are helpful for cleansing the bowels and colon, while lobelia helps to circulate oxygenized blood and decreases menstrual cramps.

Below are some herbals foods dermatologically recommended to rejuvenate your skin back to its beautiful and healthy condition.

Try eating lots of sweet potatos, mangoes, carrots and spinach. These foods contain Vitamin A. Also eating peanuts and roasted pumpkin will increase the intake of zinc that makes your skin resist infection. Eating fresh vegetables and fruits have always been recommended alongside drinking plenty of water.
