A two-day workshop on a proposed national information and communication technology Bill opened yesterday at the Novotel Hotel in Kigali.

The meeting which brought together different stakeholders in the ICT sector was organised by the Ministry of Infrastructure and expects to come out with a blue print that will guide the country regulating ICT use.

Infrastructure minister Stanislas Kamanzi told participants that the bill would serve as a regulatory instrument in various fields.

Among the sectors that will benefit from the bill will be the media industry where internet broadcasting and publishing will take advantage of high speed broadband connectivity
Two other African countries; Kenya and Namibia have already enacted similar legal instruments.
