AFTER helping Rayon Sport finish on a high last season, the club’s interim coach Baptista Kayiranga is set to be rewarded with a permanent deal this week.

According to Blues secretary general Olivier Gakwaya, Kayiranga, who temporarily took over after Raoul Shungu had been sacked last season will sign a two-year deal tomorrow.

"He is signing the contract tomorrow and he knows exactly want we want from him-trophies,” Gakwaya said.

The 51-year-old tactician returned to the club last season as Shungu’s assistant but was forced to assume full coaching duties when Shungu parted ways with the club over irreconcilable differences.

Kayiranga, who had a brief spell as the club in 2004 knows the pressure that comes with the seat.

"It is never easy when you are handling a big club as this one. It has a rich history and they don’t settle for anything short of number one but that is good for the coach because it always brings out the best in you,” Kayiranga said. 

Rayon’s last silverware came back in 2004 when they won the league.

This season, the Blues will be without their veteran striker Jimmy Gatete and versatile defender Albert Ngabo who moved to Police and APR respectively.

However, the club made some good signings in former APR custodian Aime Ndanda Ndizeye Abouba Sibomana (La Jeunesse), Juma Bizimana (Electrogaz) and AS Kigali trio-Bonfils Twahirwa, Pappy Gasana and Eric Habimana.
