BURERA – Police in Burera District are investigating the circumstances under which a woman and her one-year old child drowned in Lake Burera last Monday. The Executive Secretary of Rusarabuye Sector, which neighbours Lake Burera, Manasseh Nzamukwereka, confirmed the death of a woman only identified as Nyiranzambazimana, 40, and her child.
BURERA – Police in Burera District are investigating the circumstances under which a woman and her one-year old child drowned in Lake Burera last Monday.
The Executive Secretary of Rusarabuye Sector, which neighbours Lake Burera, Manasseh Nzamukwereka, confirmed the death of a woman only identified as Nyiranzambazimana, 40, and her child.
Their bodies were found in the lake yesterday, and taken to Butaro Hospital for autopsy, the local leader said.
Nzamukwereka, said there is suspicion the deceased committed suicide after a quarrel with her husband.
This latest incidence brings the number of people who have recently drowned in the lake to three. The first incidence happened early this month when a man only identified as Iyakaremye, 30, drowned in the same lake under mysterious circumstances.
