RWAMAGANA - Thousands of Christians on Sunday flocked Rwamagana Catholic Parish to celebrate 90 years since its inception. The Parish was established in 1919 by Monsignor Hirth, assisted by two other White clergymen. Speaking as a chief guest, Bishop Kizito Bahushimihigo, the clergy in charge of Kibungo Catholic Diocese, noted that the building of the Parish was a turning point in the history of religion in the area.
RWAMAGANA - Thousands of Christians on Sunday flocked Rwamagana Catholic Parish to celebrate 90 years since its inception.
The Parish was established in 1919 by Monsignor Hirth, assisted by two other White clergymen.
Speaking as a chief guest, Bishop Kizito Bahushimihigo, the clergy in charge of Kibungo Catholic Diocese, noted that the building of the Parish was a turning point in the history of religion in the area.
During the celebrations, 12 couples commemorated 25 and 50 years respectively, of their matrimony.
Referring to the Bible, Kizito advised the couples to stick to their marriage vows "until death separates them”.
"It is important that you realise the importance of spiritual wealth, for it is the greatest of all the others. You have proved this by staying as husband and wife, for all these years. Please let nothing turn you away,” he said.
Father Pierre Segahutu reminded Christians of their importance, in as far as keeping the Church strong, is concerned.
Faustin Musare, the government official present at the function, thanked the Church for its cooperation in implementing various government programmes.
