KIGALI – As a provisional measure the basket weaving cooperative of Kigali city under their umbrella organisation Ihuriro Ibanga have chosen Muhima Museum as their storage for their products.

This was confirmed by yesterday to The New Times by Agaseke Project Promotions Manager, Dinah Mutsindarwezo.

She revealed that the decision was caused by the delayed construction of Agaseke House in Kigali city.

"As we are still mobilizing for the funds from the donors and holding a fundraising, we decided for the time being to renovate Muhima Museum where we will be operating from before the completion of our own premises,” Mutsindarwezo said.

The Rwf2 billion House, to be constructed in Kimihurura is expected to also house the Agaseke offices among others.

The Agaseke project which has earned its name in the countries in the West, especially in USA and Japan, had in August this year received about Rwf45 million as construction support fund from UNIFEM.

Agaseke which has about 3,000 women members is also supported by Rwanda Development Board (RDB), Imbuto Foundation and Kigali City Council (KCC).
