Disi wins gold in Paris

DIEUDONNE Disi’s recent good form continued as he won gold in Sunday’s Paris 20km race. The long distance ace sprinted home in a time of 59 minutes and 33 seconds, one second faster than Kenya’s Luka Kanda, who finished second.

Michael Tesfay claimed the final podium slot in the race which attracted over 20,000 athletes from all corners of the world.

For Disi, it was confirmation that he is getting back to his best.

Last week, the 29-year-old scooped gold after winning the 10,000m event at the 2009 Francophone Games.

For his heroics, he was later named athlete of the Games and consequently awarded the Disi was awarded the ‘Assemblée Parlementaire de la Francophonie’ medal by Lebanese first lady Wafaa Sleiman at a dinner organised to officially crown off the Games.

On top of the medal, Disi also pocketed €9000 (Rwf7.5m) and was also promised free air-tickets for the next two years.
