NAIROBI - PriceWaterhouseCoopers has launched the 10th edition of the awards for most respected company Chief Executive Officers (CEO) in East Africa where business leaders from the region will nominate the most respected company.
Addressing a press conference in Nairobi, Charles Muchene, the Survey Director and partner at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, said that Kenyan CEOs are faced with many issues beyond the global recession.
The awards have proved resilient and this year’s most respected company will undoubtedly be one that has been alert in the face of extremely tough operating conditions.
Last year 125 companies took part and most of them raised the need to improve communication and the ease of doing business in the region as the major challenges to business growth.
"We are by no means out of the woods yet, but the CEOs Most Respected Company survey and awards is an opportunity to take stock and celebrate,” he added.
Present was Nation Media Group CEO Linus Gitahi, who said that the survey gave the business community the ability to recognize their impact on the economic development of the region.
Kuria Muchiru , Country Senior Partner,
PriceWaterhouseCoopers said that the post recession global economy is going to look different, with new markets in the East rising while previously powerful hedge funds and private equity on the decline.
Both surveys and reports will be themed "Rethinking and reshaping the new normal.”
The winners will be awarded at a gala dinner on 20th November this year in Nairobi.
The findings will also be used as part of global study which will be launched early next year at the world economic forum in Davos.
