RUSIZI—Thousands and thousands of catholics on Sunday November 11 celebrated 25 years of Cyangugu Diocese in existence.

The Jubilee function was held at Cyangugu stadium in Kamembe sector, Rusizi district and the guest of honor was Minister of Local Government Protais Musoni.

Minister Musoni urged catholic believers at the ceremony to love one another as God’s people and to eliminate Genocide ideology, racial and ethnic divisionism among themselves, but to rather promote unity and reconciliation in the region.

"It’s good for all of you as Catholics who are here to completely become God’s servants through behaving differently from the ways others behaved by avoiding any divisionism in your respective places of residence,” the minister said.

Musoni also urged Archbishops to encourage their followers to always participate in all government programs and to struggle for better social welfare by working hard in various activities.

Archbishop Thadeo Ntihinyurwa asked fellow worshippers to always stand firm in their religion and to preach other people to turn to Christianity.

The function was attended by various government officials including Western Province Governor Penelope Kantarama, several members of parliament, security officials and all archbishops countrywide.
