Today’s show will set the stage for the grand finale which will see one winner walk away with Kshs 5 million and a one year record contract with one of Africa’s most famous record labels, South Africa’s Gallo Records.
The week long competition for fans’ votes has pitted Rwanda’s musical shining light Alpha against Kenya’s Patricia and Nganga, Uganda’s Maureen and Carolyne.
Tonight, the Alpha will find out that apart from his numerous fans in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, Rwandans have voted massively to make sure that he has the best chance of staying out of trouble today and take him an inch closer to instant musical stardom.
Even so, talent is likely not to be the only factor that influenced the voting patterns this week.
Many voters in Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda will be rooting for one of their own but from the previous evictions when Kenyans and Rwanda’s Alpha have come out on top with majority counts, tonight does not bid well for the two Ugandan contestants. Ngangalito’s comic personality which has earned him a fanatical fan base will place him in the safest corner today.
Alpha’s unique skills of musical composition and artistic style apart from his being the sole representative from his country will place him closer to Kenya’s Patricia as the second most unlikely individuals to leave.
Going by the last Meet and Greet event in Nairobi this week, Rwanda’s budding songster seems to have pulled up a fast one by growing a serious fan base in Kenya, where reggae music is a sure winner.
That places the two Ugandans in a very precarious situation and going by individual talent, this time, Alpha will not be there to save Caroline from the boot.
The good news however for today’s evictee is that they don’t get to jump on the first plane home, because together with all the other evicted contestants, they will have to make a final appearance on Sunday.
The bad news for Alpha’s father and cousin, who today for the first time will see their son performing live in Nairobi, is that they will not have to spend time with him today because he is going nowhere.
But the good news is that Alpha will make them proud by being a worthy winner tomorrow.
