Cameroon-At least Rwanda is not green about the West Africans but rather happy that they gave us a glimpse of what to expect in Madagascar.

Rwanda passed the test after a 2-0 game series victory over Cameroon which has a Fiba world ranking of 55. In 2007, Cameroon couldn’t go past the quarter –finals after being knocked out by Mali (72-41) and it remains to be seen if they have what it takes to even skip the first hurdle-group stage this year.

Rwanda gets down to serious business this afternoon when they play Angola in their first game of the 21st Fiba Africa Championships for Women (Afrobasket women 2009).

The first-timers will be looking to build on Tuesday’s win over hosts Madagascar. The Zone 5 champions came off 64-57 winners in the warm up game which was played at Antananarivo’s indoor stadium.

A good start will be ideal for Rwanda who are drawn in a tough group (B)-defending champions Mali, two-time champions Nigeria, Tunisia and Guinea.

Nigeria Wednesday named their final squad for the Championship. The squad has a blend of foreign and home based players including former Africa golden girl, Mfon Udoka who is captaining the West African side. 

Other players on the roster include, Turkey based Mactabene Amachere and Adeola Olanrewaju. The West Africans open their campaign today with a tough tie against Mali before taking on first timers Rwanda tomorrow.
