SORAS has kept its close alliance with the volleyball federation by sponsoring this year’s Carre d’AS tournament.
The insurance company has sunk Rwf2m in the two-day event, which also counts as the last competitive event on this year’s calendar.
Similar to past editions, the tournament will merge the league’s top four clubs in the men and ladies categories.
Reigning league champions APR, new Coupe du Rwanda champions Kigali Volleyball Club (KVC), Groupe Scolaire de Kabgayi and National University of Rwanda (UNR) will compete in the men’s category while Ruhango, APR, RRA and UNR make up the ladies fray.
Gertrude Kubwimana, the Executive Secretary of the National Volleyball federation (FRVB) believes Soras’ timely contribution will go a long way in making the tournament a success.
"We thought we would be forced to postpone the tournament as we try to find sponsorship but we are happy that Soras have responded on time,” Kubwimana said.
Preliminary games will take place in Ngoma district, Eastern Province while the finals are scheduled for Sunday at Amahoro indoor stadium.
UNR are the men defending champions while RRA won the ladies category last year.
