I would like to express my joy, through your paper, over what our athletics team is doing at the on-going Francophone Games being held in Lebanon. Rwandan athletes have already scooped three gold medals and made Rwandans proud of their exploits.

The Francophone games, known as the ‘ Jeux de la Francophonie, are a combination of artistic and sporting events for French-speaking nations. We are proud of you Disi Dieudonne, Epiphanie Nyirabarame and Claudette Mukasakindi.

You have demonstrated that Rwandans can compete internationally and bring medals home; this is a great achievement for you and Rwanda as a whole.

The team has proved to Rwandans that hard work pays. Although our athletes have been having a torrid time in international meets, they didn’t quit- they stuck to their guns till the end and now we can enjoy their victory with them.

The entire team is doing quite well because it has won more medals than usual. Congratulations to the coaches who trained these elite athletes.

Thanks a lot and keep the candle burning; if this spirit is maintained I predict more medals to come, especially gold medals.
