Margaret Uwera and Marius Gasani, both Travel and Tourism Management students, were Friday crowned Miss and Mr. Rwanda Tourism University College (RTUC) 2009-2010 respectively .

The function took place at Sports View hotel in Remera.
The first ever event at the RTUC since the culture was introduced by the National University of Rwanda in 2006, was presided over by Joseph Habineza, the Minister of Sports and Culture. 

"I am pleased to be crowned Miss RTUC and I look forward to effectively representing my colleagues,” Uwera said.

On top of the crowns, the winners walked away with cash prizes of Rwf 200,000each  and will take a holiday trip to Lake Kivu and a year’s products from Sulfo Rwanda
First runners-up walked away with Rwf 150,000 while second runners-up took Rwf 100,000 each. The other contestants were also awarded Rwf 50,000.

On top of the cat walk modelling session, there was also a question and answer session to test their intellectual capacity and general knowledge.

Gasani could not hold his excitement. "I am indeed happy to become the first Mr. RTUC and I promise to cooperate in all aspects,” he said.

Present at the ceremony were the Misses for the School of Finance and Banking (SFB), Kigali Institute of Management (KIM) and the National University of Rwanda (NUR).

The event was organised by the university with support from several private companies.
