KIGALI - Elections of local leaders at cell level kicked off yesterday with primary teachers, nursery school head-teachers and members of the private sector voting for their representatives. According to the Executive Secretary of the National Electoral Commission, Charles Munyaneza, the elections will be conducted in three phases that will end on Sunday.

According to the Executive Secretary of the National Electoral Commission, Charles Munyaneza, the elections will be conducted in three phases that will end on Sunday.
"Each of the three categories (primary teachers, nursery school head-teachers and members of the private sector) will elect a representative at the cell council.
Friday’s elections will be followed by those of the village representatives that form the cell council and will be held today (Saturday),” said Munyaneza.
He added that all citizens are expected to participate in today’s election and that part of the voting will include electing the requisite 30 percent women representatives at the cell level
After the Saturday voting, the elected candidates will converge to elect among themselves the representative at the sector level.
