A number of retired teachers of Gasabo district are upset by the district’s delay in giving them their retirement packages.

"It’s distressing that we haven’t received our retirement package. Other districts like Kicukiro have got theirs but I don’t know what is happening to our district” exclaimed one of the retired teachers only identified as Sinderibuye.

He further revealed that from January this year they have been following up the issue but the district officials keep on promising to work on it.

When contacted, Ndagizimana Narcisse the Gasabo Vice-mayor in charge of social affairs and education said he knew about the case and was following it up.

"Those who have this problem should come and we follow up their files as opposed to going to newspapers.” he remarked

He pointed out that some of the people raising this issue were laid off due to a number of reasons other than old age.
