Rwamagana girl dies after botched abortion

RWAMAGANA - Police in Rwamagana are holding three people who are accused of causing the death of a young school girl after botched abortion. Djamari Mutesi, Jean Shyaki and a third suspect only identified as Mukashyaka are said to have administered to the deceased, only identified as Kayitesi local herbs in an attempt to induce an abortion.

RWAMAGANA - Police in Rwamagana are holding three people who are accused of causing the death of a young school girl after botched abortion.

Djamari Mutesi, Jean Shyaki and a third suspect only identified as Mukashyaka are said to have administered to the deceased, only identified as Kayitesi local herbs in an attempt to induce an abortion.

Residents said one of the suspects, Mutesi is a renowned herbalist.

The residents suspect that the deceased was taken to the herbalist by her boy friend. Sources say that the police is yet to establish the whereabouts of the deceased’s  boyfriend who is suspected to be at large. 

According to doctors at Rwamagana Hospital, the deceased, died last Friday after severe dehydration due to vomiting and diarrhea. 

At the police station, one of the suspects revealed that they had given the deceased a mixture of traditional herbs.
