RUHANGO - A mother and her son have been arrested in connection with the death of her husband.

Rosetta Nyranuma, the wife of the deceased , Onesphore Nyaminani and their son, Emmanuel Hategekimana are said to have beaten Nyaminani, 57, seriously on September 23, leading to his death.

The incident happened in Bihome village, Rwogo cell in Ruhango.

Police confirmed the arrests.Sources allege that the father of seven was accused of infidelity which resulted in a quarrel involving the deceased and his family.

In the quarrel the deceased was accused by the arrested persons of having brought another woman who is being alleged to be his concubine into  the family house after a drinking spree.

‘Nyaminani and his concubine identified as Christine Munganyinka were thoroughly beaten and suffered serious injuries, which could have caused the deceased untimely death,’ the area residents said.

However, upon arrest the duo denied the allegations.
According to residents, domestic violence has increased in families as a result of polygamous marriages and adultery.
