Child labour is, generally speaking, work given to children and yet harms them or exploits them physically, mentally, morally, and blocking their access to education.
Children who are victims of child labour can be found in our homes, market places, plantations, industries or factories. Child labour affects any child that is under 18 years of age, that is to say, any child working in our homes as a house help under the age of 18 is a victim, he or she must be set free from that work.
Rwanda as a case study has had poverty as the top reason for child lobour. However, child labour can also be caused by, child abuse, lack of other services such as health care, Public opinion that downplays the risk of early work for children, uncaring attitudes of employers and limited choices for women.
Children who are involved in child labour are most likely to get health problems. These children are likely to suffer diseases like, tuberculosis, headache, chest pain and retardation.
In order to bring an end to child labour, every one in the community should be an eye for police. People involving children in severe child labour should be reported in time so that such children can be set free from the bondage.
