Following the alleged mismanagement of public funds at Rwanda Institute of Administration and Management (Riam), another senior official, Faustin Mugisha, has been arrested.
This was revealed yesterday by Augustin Nkusi, the spokesperson of the Office of the Prosecutor.
Mugisha was in charge of administration and finances (DAF) at RIAM and is accused of being an accomplice in corruption with his boss, who was arrested Thursday evening.
He was arrested yesterday at Kanombe International Airport apparently trying to sneak out after learning that his boss, Marc Kabandana, had been arrested over the loss of Rwf 203 million.
"The suspect had just returned from abroad where he has been for official duty. On learning that Kabandana had been arrested, he tried to leave the country,” Nkusi told The Sunday Times.
Police spokesperson, Supt. Eric Kayiranga, also confirmed Mugisha’s arrest but could not reveal any further details pertaining the two suspects.
