GATSIBO-Last week on Tuesday October 24, agronomists from throughout Gatsibo district received heavy-duty motorcycles from the government of Rwanda to help them carry out their duties successfully.

The motorcycles will help the agronomists in effectively covering the district and implementing the green revolution which will eventually lead to poverty eradication in the district.

The representative of all agronomists in Gatsibo Modest Sebazungu said this had really helped them in carrying out their work and was confident that more would be done to achieve even better results in the district.

"This new development has boosted the mood of agronomists and we are really thankful to the government for facilitating us with easy means,” Sebazungu said.

The representative said the major problem that was always hindering their progress was transport and communication and things were going to change now that the problem had been addressed.

"We can now cover the whole district and their will be no excuse whatsoever for not fully carrying out our duties” he said. The motorcycles were given to agronomists at a subsidized price after taxes were scrapped.

Normally the cost of a new motorcycle is Frw2.38 million, but because they were tax free. One agronomist from Gitoke sector Apollinaire Karangwa said they were lucky to get them at such a price and that the terms of payment were favorable.

"They have made work easier for us and the period of 4 years is enough for us to cover the necessary payments on the motorcycles,” Karangwa said.
