APR have stopped at nothing to make sure they assemble a strong team for the coming season. The league champions have made several signings as they look to re-establish themselves as Rwanda’s football kings.

Meanwhile, reports that Africa’s football governing body (Caf) has approved a 50 percent increment in the prize money for the coming Champions League has left a huge smile on Alex Kagame, the president of APR.

According to the Caf website, the new remuneration starts with winners of the 2009 edition where the winner will pocket Rwf847.5m, the beaten finalist Rwf565m while Rwf395.5m will go to the semi-finalists.

Third and fourth place in the group guarantees a prize of Rwf282.5m and Rwf226m respectively.

Kagame says that the club has set its target at reaching the tournament’s group stages.

"It’s true we have brought in a couple of players to try and make sure that we atleast get to the group stages.”
"The prize money is very enticing and there is no doubt that we would love to have a good share of it,” he added.
"But we have to see how the new players gel with the ones that have been around. I’m sure we shall know where we stand after a few league games.”

APR qualified for Africa’s lucrative club competition after lifting the league title. The army side collected their tenth league title after piping Atraco on the last day of the league.

Atraco will feature in the Caf Confederations Cup.
