Refugees should leave when time is ripe

The Burundian Refugees living in Gatete and Kirundu provinces since November 2 have been persuaded to return home but with little response.

This should not come as a surprise reaction because on two occasions they have fled from insecurity in their country of origin.

It was entirely out of selfish ambitions of a few of their colleagues to keep them in exile. Given Rwanda’s historical turmoil, it is disheartening to these refugees being segregated in any way.

I appreciate the fact that Rwanda has the best intensions of resettling refugees but forcing them to return to their home land whose security is skeptical is unfair.

I think we should instead help them to overcome ethnical differences and live peacefully like Rwandans.
