The German Development Organisations, GTZ and DED in conjunction with Rwanda Workforce Development Authority (WDA) on Friday ended a three-week training for car mechanics.

The function held at ETO Muhima was presided over by Fatina Mukarubibi, the Deputy Director General of WDA who also handed over certificates of merit to the 31 graduates.

Mukarubibi thanked GTZ for its support to improve the skills of Rwandans urging the beneficiaries to put the knowledge they had acquired to good use and endeavor to pass it on to others.

She called for more support to boost the country’s human resource base.

"There is a need for concerted efforts between government and development partners to support the nationals in acquiring skills,” Mukarubibi said.

Becker Beden, the GTZ country coordinator observed that the country’s rapid development has led to the introduction of new brand of cars that still lack qualified mechanics and urged the beneficiaries to always acquire new skills to fill this capacity gap. 

The training was conducted by German experts from the Senior Expert Service.
