Police nab Rusizi court accountant’s murderer

WESTERN PROVINCE RUSIZI - Police in Kamembe sector are holding, Emmanuel Ndayizeye, a resident of Cyangugu cell, Rusizi district,  in connection with the murder last week of Adolphe Mazimpaka, the former chief accountant at Rusizi Higher Instance Court. According to police sources, Ndayizeye, 31, a commercial motorcyclist, transported the deceased from Rubavu Motel in Kamembe to the scene of the murder.

RUSIZI - Police in Kamembe sector are holding, Emmanuel Ndayizeye, a resident of Cyangugu cell, Rusizi district,  in connection with the murder last week of Adolphe Mazimpaka, the former chief accountant at Rusizi Higher Instance Court.

According to police sources, Ndayizeye, 31, a commercial motorcyclist, transported the deceased from Rubavu Motel in Kamembe to the scene of the murder.

Police at Kamembe police station said that Ndayizeye slit Mazimpaka’s throat using a knife and took off with Rwf80,000.

"We as security authorities in Kamembe sector arrested Ndayizeye after getting reliable information that he is the one who killed the victim,” said a police official who preferred anonymity.

According to police, Ndayizeye admitted committing the murder.

"It is true I killed the late Mazimpaka using a knife, but I had not planned it. It only happened after a serious quarrel between us after he refused to pay me Rfw1000 for my services.

"I apologize and seek forgiveness from the family of the victim and Rwandans in general for what I did because it is inhuman” said Ndayizeye.

Mazimpaka’s body was found in a pool of blood just ten metres from his home.

Ndayizeye is currently detained at Kamembe police post but will soon be transferred to Cyangugu central prison.
