I read with deep grief the sad tale of the visually impaired in Kigali.

It is a known fact that when the Good Lord closes one door, he opens wide another door.

So all the visually impaired, in any part of the world, would be able to do some type of work which would keep them away from having to beg, which of course is a social evil.
In our bustling metropolis, Mumbai, we too have a large number of visually impaired.

However, we also have organisations and institutions like the Happy Home School for the Blind and the National Association of the Blind Workshop which have specially designed programmes and courses to train these less fortunate brothers and sisters to find their rightful place in society.

If the concerned Government authorities in Rwanda are interested, we at Rwanda Renaissance would be very happy to assist in getting officials from relevant organisations here in Mumbai to volunteer their time, talent and professional expertise to help set up suitable facilities in Rwanda so that the visually impaired do not have to resort to begging.

It is my firm belief that they will also be able to effectively contribute to the growing Rwandan Economy.
