RWANDA’S junior women football team will face their Ugandan counterparts in the preliminary round of the 2011 Fifa under 20 World Cup next month.

The two sides will meet in Kampala on the weekend of October 23-25 before a return leg in Kigali two weeks later.
The winner will then face Zambia which was eliminated in the first round in Lusaka in December.

Rwanda’s Ferwafa boss, Brig. Gen. Jean Bosco Kazura told Times Sport yesterday that the team is already undergoing intensive training.

"We have a good women junior team and we have no doubt about their performance in these qualifiers,”

"They have been together for some time and we are going to have them join camp soon so as to start intensive preparations for next month’s World Cup qualifier,” Kazura said.

Other countries which were eliminated include; Botswana, Congo, Egypt, Ghana, Namibia, Nigeria, RD Congo, South Africa, Tunisia and Zimbabwe.

The FIFA Women’s World Cup 2011 will be the sixth edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, the quadrennial international women’s football world championship tournament.

It has been scheduled to take place between June 26-July 17, 2011 and will be held in Germany which won the right to host the event in October 2007.

Sixteen teams will compete at the World Cup finals. Two-time defending world champions Germany will be automatically qualified as the host nation.

Other national teams will start qualification in their continental confederations in 2009 and 2010 respectively.
