NEW YORK - President Paul Kagame yesterday conveyed his best wishes to the Muslim community in Rwanda on the occasion of Eid El Fitr that concludes the one-month Ramadhan fasting period.

President Kagame, currently in New York for the UN General Assembly, thanked Rwandan Muslims for their contribution to continued national unity, stability and progress, as well as good relations with other faith communities in Rwanda and in the Great Lakes region.

The President said: "Faith combined with hard work is an effective force for transforming our communities and improving lives.”

He commended the Muslim community for achievements registered through working together, particularly in promoting education for both girls and boys, caring for the most vulnerable and initiating activities aimed at fighting poverty.
