Thirty-five businesspeople have completed a four-month training program supported by BPR Bank in partnership with the Africa Management Institute (AMI) and Consumer Centrix.
Trainees were offered with skills in financial management, how to effectively cut expenses to maximise his profit, provide accounting and business consultancy
The graduation took place at BPR Bank’s headquarters on November 11. The participants celebrated the milestone that left the graduates with advanced business management skills, among other competencies.
According to Arsene Mpunga Ibambasi, Senior Manager of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) at BPR Bank, the achievement has tipped the bank on the effectiveness of the training program and compelled them to extend it to as many Rwandan businesses as possible.
Ibambasi also noted that through the training skills are transferred to the businesses of the SMEs which provide an edge in a competitive local and regional market. BPR Bank will keep supporting the graduates by offering different financial services such as loans and other information that support business expansion.
He added: "We are glad to have the first graduates in this program and we look forward to enrolling more that will impact our community.”
Paul Kato, Senior Program Manager at AMI said the participants were given different courses concerning knowing their clients, market research, people management, financial management and bookkeeping, among others.
He added: "On this day, we are happy that what our graduates have learned in have created an impact. Some of them have started their own businesses during the program.”
Kato also noted that AMI has trained over 4000 businesspeople across Rwanda in different sectors since 2019, adding that the institution looks forward to training more who become ambassadors and help their employees to impact other people in the Rwandan community.
Innocent Ngabitzinze is one of the graduates of the four-month training program.
He said that through its rich content, he was able to learn how to manage his money better as well as how to effectively cut expenses to maximise his profit.
He added that the training program which was both virtual and physical was eye-opening since it helped him to start his own business and use his skills to provide accounting and business consultancy, adding that some of his clients are fellow graduates.
He thanked BPR Bank, AMI and Consumer Centrix for organising the program and urged them to enrol more businesses in the next cohorts.
