The district of Nyarugenge has approved a whopping Rwf 1.2 billion budget to refurbish the main city bus terminal of Nyabugogo.

The decision was confirmed yesterday by the District Mayor, Origène Rutayisire.

"The renovation exercise will take a maximum of two months,” Rutayisire said without mentioning when it would commence.

Despite the plan’s approval, the Mayor said that it still lacks funds for the exercise to kick-off.

"We are now in the process of looking for funders since this is the obstacle remaining. But we hope to have got one very soon,” he said.

The renovation, which is the first phase, will be followed by the upgrading of the park as the district is now carrying out a study in line with the new City Master Plan.

Once the study is complete, Rutayisire said it would include the construction of an underground taxi park and a shopping mall.
