Nyagatare Mayor arrested

NYAGATARE - Police in Nyagatare are holding three district officials and a University employee for allegedly mismanaging public funds, The New Times has learnt. Sources at Nyagatare police station who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the arrested officials are the district mayor, Robert Kashemeza,(Pictured) his deputy in charge of social affairs, Immacule Mukabahizi, Rwempasha Sector Executive Secretary, Claude Mushabe and Umutara Polytechnic University dean of the faculty of languages, Dr. Robert Mugisha.

NYAGATARE - Police in Nyagatare are holding three district officials and a University employee for allegedly mismanaging public funds, The New Times has learnt.

Sources at Nyagatare police station who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the arrested officials are the district mayor, Robert Kashemeza his deputy in charge of social affairs, Immacule Mukabahizi, Rwempasha Sector Executive Secretary, Claude Mushabe and Umutara Polytechnic University dean of the faculty of languages, Dr. Robert Mugisha.

New Police spokesperson, Supt. Eric Kayiranga also confirmed the development.

‘They were arrested on Wednesday over mismanaging public funds amounting to Rwf10 million,’ he said.

Kayiranga however could not give more details into this case, saying that investigations were still going on.

‘The case is being processed by the CID. We are still carrying out investigations and we will keep you informed,’ he said.
