HUYE - Staff at the National University of Rwanda (NUR) will soon be required to sign performance contracts upon which their service delivery will be evaluated.

The university’s director of human resources and administration, Darius Kankiriho, revealed this during a two-day training session for university staff on proper service delivery held on Tuesday.

The training is in line with the new human resource manual, procedures and polices that is meant to improve service delivery at the institution.

The NUR has in the past been criticized for its poor service delivery, especially in its finance department and the office of the registrar.

Kankiriho, said that the workshop will improve employees’ capacity and the quality of services they deliver.

"Poor service delivery in the past could have been as a result of absence of structure and system policy for the employees. This manual is meant to elaborate on this. It also spells out the code of conduct of employees,” Kankiriho said.

However sources say that the human resources manual procedures and polices at the NUR will have to be approved by the university’s board of directors before being implemented.

The workshop is being facilitated by consultants from Holland in collaboration with NUR.
