EIGHT countries have confirmed participation in next month’s East African Kung-fu tournament.
The event dubbed ‘Hushu championship’ will be staged at Rwanda’s Amahoro Indoor stadium from October 16-18.
The eight countries are Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, Madagascar, Libya, Canada and hosts Rwanda.
The tourney will be played in three categories; men, women and a kids’ competition for players aged 12 and below.
Ahead of the three-day event, the president of the national Kung-fu federation Yassin Mubarak Uramukiwe is confident that Rwanda will shine in the event.
"We have a pre-selection team of fifteen players who have been doing non-residential training over the last two weeks so we expect a good show from our team,” Uramukiwe said.
Uramukiwe also thanked the Sports Ministry for bankrolling the championship.
