GICUMBI - Banque de Kigali (BK) has opened doors to clients in Byumba town and Gatuna border.The operations started last week. "These include farmers, the business community and the salary earners,” said Mulisa.
He explained that clients can open accounts by depositing an initial amount of Rwf10,000, adding that the bank will continue providing long and short term loans to their clients.
"We provide all sorts of loans such as house mortgage, vehicle leasing, agricultural and livestock farming loans and salary advance to public and private employees,” he said.
Meanwhile, Byumba business community have hailed the bank for extending its services to the area, saying this will ease congestion that has been common at other banks there.
"The opening of BK branch at Byumba and Gatuna will enable business people transact their financial operations faster, unlike in the past where people would queue for long hours in other banks,” said a retail trader Anasthase Niyitegeka.
Other banks which have been operating in the area include Banque Commercial du Rwanda (BCR), Banque Populaire du Rwanda (BPR), ZIGAMA CSS and IRIBA Microfinance.
