Kigali Volleyball Club  (KVC) proved no match for APR as the latter stormed to their third league title in as many years.
Playing in front of a full house at Amahoro Indoor stadium, the defending champions registered a 3-1 set win.

APR made their intentions clear right from the start when they took the first set (25-18). KVC fought back in the second set 25-18 but Jean Luc Ndayikengurukiye’s side, who were without their inspirational trio; Cesar Rubayita, Lawrence Yakani and Luc Kagabo claimed the third and fourth sets (27-25 and 25-15) to seal a deserved win.

The win means that Ndayikengurukiye, a former APR and national team captain has now guided the club to back to back league titles.

Despite  the win, Ndayikengurukiye felt his team should have won in straight sets. "We had the ability to win in straight sets but I felt we were over confident at times and lost concentration,” he observed.

It was double joy for APR as the women side stormed to a straight sets victory (25-22, 25-17, 25-14) in the women final.

The winners in both categories pocketed Rwf0.3m while the first and second runners up settled for a consolation Rwf0.2m and Rwf0.1m respectively

Rwanda Revenue Authority finished third in the women fray.
After receiving the winners’ trophy, APR (women)’s head coach Paul Bitok warned that it was the start of a long dominance.
