Tom Close’s grand album launch

The rate at which Rwandan music has developed in the last few years alone is unbelievable. No one could ever imagine that music-lovers would abandon their seats throughout the entire show just to have a better glimpse of a stage performance by a Rwandan artist.

This is what happened last Friday at Tom’s album launch in the grand auditorium of the National University of Rwanda (NUR).

Clad trendily in a cream pair of trousers with white white shoes, a red shirt and tie, Tom Muyombo, a.k.a Tom Close arrived on stage at 11:00 p.m amid a rapturous applause from the over 2000 strong crowd that had been waiting since 6:00 p.m.

Before Tom claimed the stage, the crowd was entertained by a score of talented local musicians, including Maurix, King James, NPC, Kitoko, The Ben, Riderman and Meddy.

The local talents produced the most music extravaganza ever and people danced to their electrifying music.

Alongside our local musicians, was Uganda’s hottest music duo, famously known as Radio and Weasel.

They entertained the already excited crowd with  some of their hit tracks, like: Nakudata, Zuena, Nakutamani, and Bread & Butter. It was indeed a splendid show in the true sense of the word.

Tom Close begun with his ‘Mbwira yego’ song, and followed by a series of songs from his debut Album ‘Kuki’ before embarking on tracks from his new ‘Sibeza ‘ album.

The long waited concert was proudly sponsored by RwandaTell, BRALIRWA, and Huye Spring water.
