The much awaited beach handball tournament unfolds today in Rubavu, Gisenyi of the Northern Province. The annual event, which is the last on the National Handball Federation calendar, is expected to attract nine local clubs in both the men and women category.

According to Justin Habumuremyi, the national handball federation Permanent Secretary, all local clubs were invited but only four have confined their participation. The four include Police, National University of Rwanda (UNR) as well as two district teams of Gicumbi and Rubavu.

Clubs invited but had not confirmed their participation by press time include national league champions Gicumbi, APR, KIST, Ecole Secolaire Gafunzo, Kigali Institute of Education (KIE), St. Joseph Kabgayi, APAPEKI-Curo and APEK.

The event is sponsored by Sulfo Rwanda.
